SI FREIGHT NETWORK ACCESS IMPROVING

Date

Hi All,

As of this morning we have had notification that the rail networks into Wellington and the Ferries across the Cook Strait will be resuming operation, this is good news as this means we can get freight to the South Island relatively easily.

The challenge however remains in getting freight from Picton to Christchurch and further South, our freight partners have indicated that this is achievable via a West coast route (either Lewis or Arthurs) as State Highway 1 will remained closed for sometime.

SCS will resume sending freight to the South Island today and expects it to get through, in terms of service please expect there to be delays while the backlog is cleared and please expect transit times to push out 1-2 days as the distance travelling along the West Coast vs East Coast is longer and slower.

Thank you all for your patience yesterday and thank you to our freight partners for quickly reacting to the challenges.

Cheers

Phil
