The SCS Family is growing again and this time it is the launch of Supply Chain International Ltd (SCI).
This is the final and critical LINK IN THE SUPPLY CHAIN this completes our physical logistics offering enabling a unified logistics end-to-end solution, from origin to final customer. The remaining piece of a puzzle that was strategized 15 years ago.
As of October, Peter Furlong the current General Manager of SCS will commence the operations of the International Freight Forwarding Company and this will mean we can offer a full door to door service for all our clients on both the domestic and international stage to accommodate any level of complexity or need. SCI will offer the full range of services being import, export, airfreight, seafreight and customs brokerage.
We will concurrently, continue to work closely with valued existing international freight partners like APC and Oceanbridge with key customers and opportunities.
A lot of “competitors” talk a good game about “integrated solutions” but the reality is that they are different business units with different P&L’s, technology and independant management structures; customers sold one of these solutions invariable discover that after they have bought into the sales pitch and signed over their business that there is virtually no synergy between the divisions other than the same company name. In fact we have built more integrated solutions with partners than “competitors” are able to deliver with internal divisions who sell “integrated solutions”.
The 3 key differences customers are seeing with our SCM model compared to traditional International Freight, 3PL and Domestic freight solutions are:
- Our solutions are actually integrated
- The relationship is different, they are not customer/supplier they are partnership based, this requires a lot more trust but delivers a lot more value
- We can prove a lower total cost of ownership
Peter’s 30 plus years of experience in this industry will provide an excellent foundation to build from and he is really looking forward to re-connecting with the industry after a 2 year absence. SCI is currently in the process of recruiting staff and will operate from our new facility located at 38 Airpark Drive, Auckland Airport. We will provide further updates once the business is up and running properly.
Jacqui started with SCS as our Operations Manager back in November 2015 and has done an amazing job for the Company. She is extremely well qualified in the field of Logistics having come to us from TOLL in Western Australia. Her career in Logistics started back in 2003 and she very quickly moved up the ranks to become the National Warehouse Manager. Jacqui brings a huge amount of experience to SCS and the Company has already seen major improvements across the operation. I can honestly say that Jax is the best Ops Manager I have met in my 17 years in this industry. Prior to this I had only met two other I rated at this level, better than me 🙂 so it’s an honor to have the best working for us.
